Food Not Bombs Needs Help!

Actively Seeking a New Kitchen and Foster Organizers...

featured image

Ever wanted to get involved with Asheville Food Not Bombs? For years, the group has been serving free vegetarian meals to anyone who needs food. Currently, we host picnics and informal activist networking every Saturday starting around 3:45pm at Pritchard Park.

Our most recent kitchen space in downtown Asheville is no longer available because the folks who lived in the house where we cooked have moved. A plethora of local community centers and churches have been contacted but nothing has become available for our use. We would like to stay cooking in downtown Asheville because of the convenience and variety of people that help cook and clean; however, as of right now, until another cooking space is found, Asheville Food Not Bombs will return to Warren Wilson College campus to cook and clean.

Know of a possible kitchen space in Asheville? Please contact Hattie at 303-929-9713 or jamim@riseup.net. It should be noted that the current incarnation of Asheville Food Not Bombs loves to clean and has kept the past three kitchen spaces tidy and happy.

As well, with Winter Break coming up for most college students - many of whom are part of Asheville Food Not Bomb's core group - we are looking for people to "foster" the group for a week or more. Specifically, we are looking for people to take over the cooking, cleaning, and serving on the following Saturdays: December 22, December 29, January 5, January 12, and January 19. Want to help but don't know how we work? We'll show you how to do the food donation pick-up, cook for big groups of people, and will teach you any other logistics you may need to know! Again, please contact Hattie with the above information if you can help.

I ran into Ashville FNB's about a month ago while visiting. I had soem of the best food while I was there. They had these delicious spinach cabbage rolls and vegan pizzas. I don't know what this girl is talking about, but I hope she is just joking &talking shit bc these are her friends. I hope to make it through Asheville again soon, hopefully I'll get to eat another of those cabbage rolls and help out cooking a lil. mmmm.......
